Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What the heck does GZBI stand for, anyhow?
A. I'm shocked, Shocked, SHOCKED that you have to ask this question. But as the saying goes, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. . . (errr, maybe I need to re-phrase that). Actually, it was Shamu who insited that we tell everyone what GZBI stands for.

First, let me ask you a couple questions: What does DKNY stand for? (A. Donna Karan New York) What does FCUK stand for (A. French Connection United Kingdom). what does RL stand for? (A. Ralph Lauren).

So, in answer to your question, What does GZBI stand for? It stands for quality, distinction and purpose. It stands for the dedicated men and women who have and continue to serve in Iraq. It stands for good souviners at a reasonable price. It stands for donations to charity supporting fallen servicemen. It stands in support of the most important American foreign policy initiative of the 21st century.

GZBI stands for the Green Zone Baghdad Iraq.
Q. Are GZBI shirts produced in sweatshops by underpaid child laborers chained to a sewing machine?
A. No. But we are always on the lookout for quality products at reasonable prices. Currently GZBI uses Made in America shirts, with screening just down the road at a local shop. The employees there may think of it as a sweatshop, but the closest they ever get to sweating is wondering if their paychecks will be on time.
Q. Will GZBI shirts protect me from Small Arms Fire, Indirect Fire or IEDs/VBIEDs?
A. No.
Q. Will GZBI shirts protect me from the harmful rays of the sun?
A. GZBI long-sleeve shirts have proven very reliable as a anti-skin cancer prophylactic in Iraq, although they do not have a verified SPF rating. An additional benefit of the long-sleeve shirt is that it keeps you warmer in the winter.
Q. Will GZBI shirts help me win friends and influence enemies?
A. Uncertain, but at least you’ll look good trying !
Q. What about the involvement in Iraq ?
A. MAKE no mistake--we strongly support the effort to bring freedom and peace to the Iraqi people. We believe that through establishment of the five basic freedoms in Iraq, the freedom:

- to have a roof over your head,
- to have food on the table,
- to be free from a knock on the door at night, dragged away never to be heard from again,
- to succeed or fail on your own merits,
- to offer your children a better life than you yourself had
America will be a safer and more secure.

We know that walls cannot be built high enough around America to keep the terrorists out. We know that at America’s airports you cannot take your shoes off often enough to be protected from those that wish us ill.

We believe that by helping the Muslim peoples become as invested in their own lives as we are in America, there will be a turn from violence directed outwardly and an increased personal investment in their own futures in their own countries.

Like our brothers and sisters still in Iraq we know without a shadow of a doubt that what America and the coalition are doing is right, just, and will succeed. We are proud to be a part of it.
Q. Can GZBI help my club / orgniazation / unit obtain quality monogrammed or screened shirts, caps, mugs, etc?
A. You betcha. We're not professional tee-shirt guys, but we know the best in the business. The head of our production company is retired USN. Nemo is retired USN. Shamu is a patriotic American, who if he had to do it all over again, would also have served. (He's serving now, in any case, as a civilian.) We all strongly, very strongly support the U.S. military and coalition allies. If we can help, let us know.
